S. Savithri, a long time resident of R. A. Puram passed away on Feb.2. She was 70.
She was born to S. Sambasiva Iyer and Rajam at Serukalathur near Kumbakonam in 1914.
She was married to G. K. Ramakrishnan and moved to R. A. Puram in 1957.
She took great interest in Sanskrit literature and completed ‘Siromani’.
She used to conduct Bhagavatham classes for housewives and students at Ramana Kendra, Sringeri Mutt and at her residence. She also conducted tuitions in Sanskrit for students.
She also did Sanskrit translation work for Sri Ramakrishn Mutt and Ramanasraram for their publications. She had also contributed to the web site, www.thevaram.org by translating parts of Thevaram into Sanskrit.
Savithri had presented talks on All India Radio in Sanskrit on various religious topics.
Her sadabhishekam was conducted on Oct.13, 2011.
She is survived by her husband G. K. Ramakrishnan, daughters Rajeshwari and Suganya and son G. R. Krishnakumar. The family can be reached at 11, First Main Road, R. A. Puram. Ph: 2495 3123.
