A. S. Narayanan, aged 98, passed away on Dec.6. He was a resident of Mylapore for the past five decades.
He was born on Nov.23, 1914. He hailed from Shencottah and was the son of S. Anantha Narayana Iyer and son-in-law of S. K. Mahadeva Iyer, Diwan Beshkar of Travancore.
He was a gold medalist in MA (Mathematics) from the old Madras Presidency. He retired from EID Parry in the year 1972.
He was married to Bhagavathy. The couple celebrated their eightieth wedding anniversary last May.
His philosophical humour towards life and his ability to narrate stories rendered him as the most affectionate uncle, granduncle and great granduncle, says his family member.
He was a tennis player of merit. Being the cousin of Ramanathan Krishnan and the nephew of T. K. Ramanathan, he had had immense exposures to international tennis competitive scenarios. He was also a good Bridge player. He always encouraged sports among his children too, they say.
Narayanan is survived by his wife Bhagavathy, sons S. Ananthan Narayanan, S. Mahadevan, S. Kannan, S. Chandran and a daughter Lalitha Aparajithan.
