S. Viswanathan aged 81 passed away on August 16. Vichhu was the son of late P. R. Subramanian, of Presidency College and curator of cricket pitches for TNCA for many years. He retired as (Dy) COPS from Souther Railways.
He played first division cricket for Southern Railways for more than 10 years. He also played tennis, was the captain of the Madras University tennis team and later, was a member of the Southern Railway team for many years.
He was the umpire of many tennis tournaments including the Davis Cup. He has played many veteran tennis tournaments representing Egmore Club in the TNTA league.
He served in the transport committee in the ATP Chennai Open tennis tournaments (from the first ATP in Chennai till 2011)
