P. J. Seetharaman, retired police officer passed away on February 12 at the age of 83.
He was the eldest son of the late P. Jayarama Iyer who himself was an Inspector of Police of the early 1900s in the composite Madras state.
Commencing his career as Sub Inspector in Chinglepet District after completion of graduation from Presidency College, he served in the Special Branch CID, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Police Computer Wing and Crime Records Branch CID at Chennai.
He handled several sensitive cases including the Karnataka Bank Murder Case and was awarded the Anna Medal in 1982.
Besides being popular in police service, he was a prominent figure in all cultural activities, religious discourses and philosophy lectures in and around the Mylapore area.
