Sri Kapali Temple will be open through the night and until dawn for Sivaratri. There will be special abishekhams will be performed between 11.30 pm and 5 am.
RASA is hosting a series of dance recitals on this occasion on March 2, 3 and 4. Dr Amibika Kameshwar’s feature will open the series on Sivaratri at 6.15 pm and recitals will continue till midnight.
Young dancers are featured on March 3 and 4, 6.15 pm onwards.
Other Sivan temples in the area will also be open through the night and have special pujas on four occasions.
Mahasivaratri Akhandam is being conducted by Naadabrahmam, the monthly music journal from March 2, 6.30 p.m. to March 3, 6 a.m. at Sri Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Temple 11, 2nd Cross Street, R A Puram.
The programme has vocal recitals by Maharajapuram S Ramachandran O S Thyagarajan K. Balamuralikrishna, Trichy Pradeepkumar and Mohan Santhanam.

A Mahasivaratri musical night, presented by Papanasam R. Kumar takes place at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore on March 2, 4.30 p.m. to March 3 at 5 p.m.
Concerts are to be presented by a string of artistes that include P Unnikrishnan, a violin duet by T Rukmini and Amirtha Murali, Mudikondan Ramesh (veena), Gayathri Girish, Sandeep Narayan at 1 p.m., Salem Gayathri Venkatesan, U P Raju and Nagamani (mandolin). Ph: 94444 93639.
