The annual teppam (float) festival of Sri Kapali Temple will take place on January 19, 20 and 21.
On the first evening, the image of Lord Kapali will be taken around the temple tank that is full of water while the images of Singaravelar and Deivannai will be taken around on the next two evenings.
Temple officers say that only special invitees, priests and artistes will be allowed access to the temple tank. Limited people will be allowed into the float itself.
These measures are being taken following some accidents in the tank.
There will be traffic diversion near the Sri Kapali Temple tank between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. during these days. Buses and private vehicles will not be able to cross the R K Mutt Road alongside the tank area when the teppam is on. MTC buses plying this route are also being diverted on the three evenings.
More info can be had at the temple office – 2464 1670.
