T. Saroja, a resident of San Thome passed away in Chennai on November 26 at the age of 75. Saroja had been living in San Thome since 1998.
When the family lived in Triplicane she was running a nursery/primary school for 25 years. After they moved to San Thome she continued to run it till 1993. Her love for children was what fuelled her desire to set up a school and closely associate herself with it.
It had classes from the nursery to the 5th standard and about 300 children were on the rolls.
“Our mother was a wonderful person, so capable and gentle in a very quiet modest way”, says Venkateswaran, her son. The other 2 sons are Srinivasan and Venkataraman and all three live in Lagos.
Saroja’s husband, Thyagarajan has been running a textile shop in Triplicane for the last 50 years.
