Nandalala’s Cultural Centre, Dr. Ranga Road, Mylapore is all set to celebrate Krishna Jayanti between August 31 and September 2. Poojas include abhishekams on all 3 days with ingredients specially chosen for the occasion. Other highlights: Krishna Janana Vaibhavam (cradling of Lord Krishna) on September 1 at 4.30 p.m.. Sri Anjaneyar Devasthanam, 87 Royapetah High Road, Mylapore has a Krishna Jayanthi Utsavam from September 2 to 6. Every day there is Thirumanjanam at 8 a.m., Alankara Vaibhavam at 6 p.m. and music concerts are at 6.30 p.m. On September 5 there is Thiru Kalyanam and on September 6 at 7 p.m. there is a procession of Sri Venugopalaswamy. A string of events in connection with Krishna Jayanthi are planned at C P Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation, Alwarpet. On August 30, there is an exhibition on Radha-Krishna by way of photos, prints and paintings at Vennirul Art Gallery, This show is on till September 9, open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.(except Sunday). As part of the inauguration, there is a lecture by Dr. Nanditha Krishna on ‘Radha in South Indian Tradition’ accompanied by a concert of Andal’s Pasurams and the Ashtapadi by Sumathi Krishnan.
